Our First Missions Conference!!

We had a wonderful time this past Sunday night through Wednesday at Coats Community Church in Coats, NC. This was the first church in North Carolina we presented to. It was wonderful to be with friends. The fellowship was wonderful, the food was marvelous, and the meeting was awesome. Bro. Jim Wyatt was the keynote speaker and brought a great challenge on faith promise missions. Bro. Pedro from Mexico, Bro. Obed from India and Bro. Lawrence from Ghana, West Africa shared their ministries as well as several other local missions. Special music was provided by Mrs. Ethel and Coat's Community Choir. We also got a chance to play a little bit. We found out that the piano & the trumpet play in both English and Spanish! We played for Bro. Pedro and his wife Angela as the sang Amazing Grace in Spanish! Mylanie picked up a few Spanish words "Dios es muy bien!" (God is VERY good!) We appreciate Bro. Jim Cochran and all the wonderful people there.

Lynnwood Lakes Baptist Church

This morning we were at Lynnwood Lakes Baptist Church in Greensboro, NC. We had a wonderful time presenting Stillwater and this was the first time Mylanie played with us!! We've been trying for a while to get her to play her tamborine with us. This was the first time she felt comfortable. She did a great job and we hope she will continue.

Why did the chicken cross the road?

We have discovered the answer to this age old question. To chase the sheep that were outside the fence!! We didn't get a picture, but a chicken did go running across the road to chase these sheep!!

Tabernacle Baptist Church, Zebulon, NC

Tonight we presented the ministry to Tabernacle Baptist Church in Zebulon, NC. I think it's northwest of Benson, but I'm not very sure yet! We had a wonderful time. They had several instrumentalists who we talked into playing a song with us. It made us feel like we were back at Fellowship in Florida!! Everyone was so friendly and they may possible send some kids to our NC Camp!

Our Last Day of Spring Break

We attended a street festival in Benson. Did you know that they made sweetpotato ice cream? We learned a lot of different ways to made sweetpotatoes!! We even got a recipe book!! After all sweetpotatoes are the main crop here! It was a lot of fun & Mylanie even got to draw on the sidewalk of downtown Benson!!

From Benson, it was on to Selma for a car show! Of course the guys really enjoyed that!! Here's a few pics of our favorite cars!

Mylanie's Wendy's chose this one!
All in all we had a great spring break with friends and family. We are going to miss Grammy, Gramps & Uncle Chris very much:(

More Spring Break Exploration!!

One of the cool things about North Carolina is the Farmer's Market in Raleigh. They have some interesting statues and such, lots of flowers, vegetables (of course!!) and many other cool stuff. We bought some flowers to plant and a few banana pepper plants. We also tried something new!! Spagetti squash. It was really good. Except for Mylanie who doesn't like anything new right now! You cut it in half and put it in the oven for half an hour, then scrap it and use it for noodles!! Thursday & Friday we went to about 30 churches dropping off information about the camp. We made some really good contact by doing this. An auction company volunteered to host a charity auction for us and Tim is going to be able to present the camp to a ministerial association. We also went to another battlefield, Avasboro on Thursday. It was one of the last battles of the Civil War. I forgot the camera, but I did get a few pics at the Farmer's Market Saturday!!

It's Spring Break!!!

It's spring break week!!! And we have a houseful!! Imagine 9 people and only 1 bathroom!! We're taking time this week to explore. Today we went to the Aquarium (Mylanie loves it!!) and Fort Fisher!! Fort Fisher is a Southern Civil War fort and was also used in WWI. They still have some of the original underground shelters from the Civil War. We stopped for a picnic at Kure Beach and Mylanie had a seagull take bread from her hand!! We had tons of fun and learned a little bit of NC history too!

Stillwater's First Concert & Cookout!!

Today we had our very first concert and cookout. The current owners of Stillwater Lodge & Retreat graciously let us hold on open house on the property so that folks could see what it was like. The Cookout was a great success!! About 130 people came and 7 area churches were represented. We received very positive respones from all and several churches said that they would consider supporting the Ministry. Thank you so much to all who came, to those who donated items, to those who sang (especially Calvary's Mark, a VERY good group, who donated their sound equipment for the evening. I have their contact info if anyone is interested:)). There are so many of you that I can't begin to name them all. I do have to say a very special thank you to my Mom, Dad & brother (Bessie, Dave & Chris Lechner) and also Bill, Gina & Nicki MacLellan for coming all the way from FL to help out this week. (They're on spring break.) And to Mylanie, thanks so much for all the running around you did for me to save my tired legs!!
